Defining the Paranormal
Welcome to Field Notes from the Beyond!
General Paranormal Studies
The Mesa - At Skinwalker Ranch, a prominent geological feature that supposedly houses artificial underground structures.
Ghosts & Hauntings
Digital Voice Recorder – A portable device designed to capture high-quality audio recordings. These are used in paranormal investigations to capture potential evidence, particularly EVPs, and often produce higher quality recordings than phone apps.
Cryptids
Tah-Tah-Kle'-Ah - A Yakima word for "owl-woman monster", this cannibal giant lives in Northern California. It speaks numerous Native American languages and eats frogs, lizards, and snakes, as well as humans. It is often called a Bigfoot-like creature.
Aliens & UFOs
Cosmic Clap - Reported by John Keel in The Mothman Prophecies, a descriptor of the strange STI-like ailment experienced by some male abductees.
Non-Human Entities
Irish Space Elementals - Similar to spirit elementals, space elementals are not of this world. They come from another plane of existence or outside the Earth’s atmosphere. Some liken them to angels or aliens.
Psychic Abilities
Runes – An alphabetic system powerfully identified with Nordic traditions. Each rune is believed to radiate a specific power. They are used for divination, spellcasting, and other magical or spiritual practices.
Magic
Ostara - Anglo-Saxon spelling of the name of the Germanic deity of spring, dawn, and fertility. Her celebration closely coincides with the vernal equinox, also one of the Wiccan Sabbats, marking the renewal of life after winter. Modern traditions like Easter eggs and (possibly) rabbits can be traced back to her and symbolize growth.

Who are we?
We are a group of scholars interested in understanding paranormal, supernatural, and anomalous phenomena from an academic perspective. We want to document and validate experiences people have and study them in a rigorous way to bring credibility to these phenomena.
